At True North Canine, behavior modification is our primary focus. We work with pet dogs displaying serious behavior challenges that require structured, professional training—not basic obedience classes.
Our programs are designed to create stability, clarity, and reliability in dogs struggling with aggression, fear, anxiety, reactivity, and impulse control issues.
Behavior modification is appropriate for dogs struggling with:
• Human or dog aggression
• Fear-based behaviors
• Anxiety or reactivity
• Resource guarding
• Severe leash reactivity
• Territorial behavior
• Lack of impulse control
• Unstable or unpredictable behavior patterns
Each dog is evaluated individually. There is no one-size-fits-all approach.
Behavior issues do not exist in isolation. They are the result of genetics, environment, reinforcement history, and unclear leadership.
Our training focuses on:
• Clear communication
• Structured routines
• Accountability for behavior
• Building confidence through controlled exposure
• Teaching the dog how to succeed in real-world situations
We do not rely on avoidance, distraction-only methods, or management without training. The goal is reliability, clarity, and long-term stability.
This is not basic obedience with a new label.
Behavior modification requires:
• Professional assessment
• Controlled environments
• Consistent handling
• Owner involvement and education
• Clear expectations for the dog
Progress is measured by improved decision-making, reduced emotional responses, and the dog’s ability to remain neutral and compliant under pressure.

Behavior-modification private lessons are ideal when the dog can function safely in the home but struggles in specific situations. This approach allows training to take place in the exact environments where the behavior occurs, creating real-world reliability instead of controlled-only success.
Private lessons also place a strong emphasis on owner education. You learn how to handle the dog correctly, recognize behavioral thresholds, and apply structure consistently. This leads to better long-term results and prevents the behavior from returning once training ends.
This option works best when owners are committed, consistent, and able to implement clear expectations between sessions.

Behavior Board & Train is best for dogs that need a structured, immersive environment to reset patterns and build stability. Daily consistency, clear boundaries, and professional handling allow behavior to be addressed without the distractions and inconsistencies that often exist at home.
This program is especially effective for dogs with severe reactivity, aggression, or impulse-control issues that require intensive work before transitioning back to the owner. Training focuses on behavior stabilization first, followed by clear communication and reliability.
Owners are then brought into the process to ensure a smooth and successful transition home.
Private behavior lessons are available for behavior modification and structured obedience work.
Single behavior sessions are $175 per session.
Package options are available following consultation.
Our 6-week Behavior Modification Board & Train program is designed for dogs displaying reactivity, anxiety, fear-based behaviors, resource guarding, or other serious behavior challenges.

Extended programs may be recommended depending on severity and complexity.
