Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and True North Canine ("True North Canine," "we," "us," or "our") covering your use of this website and any training service you book with us. By using this site or booking a program, you accept these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site or book a program.

1. Services

We provide dog training services, including board and train programs, private lessons, virtual lessons, and behavior modification programs, along with owner education. Program details, inclusions, and prices listed on this site are current at the time of publication and may change. The written program agreement you sign before training begins controls if it conflicts with this website.

2. Booking, Consultation Fee, and Payment

• A consultation fee of $150 applies across the board and must be paid before the consultation takes place.
• The consultation fee is applied toward the cost of a package if you move forward with a program.
• Program balances are due on the schedule stated in your program agreement. Space is reserved only when payment or deposit is received.
• Deposits reserve a specific slot and are non refundable unless stated otherwise in writing.
• Prices are in U.S. dollars. You are responsible for any applicable taxes and for fees charged by your bank or card issuer.

3. Cancellations, Rescheduling, and Refunds

• Please give at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule a lesson. Late cancellations and no shows may be charged as a completed session.
• Board and train slots are limited. Cancellations inside 7 days of a start date may forfeit the deposit.
• Because results depend on continued owner follow through, program fees are not refundable once training has begun, except where required by law or where we agree otherwise in writing.
• If we must cancel for illness, weather, or emergency, we will reschedule or provide a prorated credit for services not delivered.

4. Health, Vaccination, and Behavior Requirements

• Minimum age is 8 weeks for the puppy program and 6 months for board and train programs.
• Dogs must be current on core vaccinations, including rabies, and you must provide veterinary records before arrival.
• Dogs must be free of contagious illness, fleas, and ticks. We may decline or send home any dog that presents a health or safety risk.
• You must disclose all known bite history, aggression, resource guarding, escape behavior, and medical conditions. Withholding this information may result in dismissal from the program without refund.
• You authorize us to obtain veterinary care if we believe your dog needs it and we cannot reach you, and you agree to pay reasonable veterinary costs incurred for your dog.

5. Training Methods and No Guarantee of Results

Our programs use structure, clear communication, and consistency, and may include tools such as leashes, prong collars, place cots, crates, and properly conditioned electronic collars, applied humanely and only when appropriate for the individual dog. You may decline any tool, and we will discuss alternatives.

Dogs are living animals. We do not guarantee specific behavioral outcomes, timelines, or the permanent elimination of any behavior, including aggression or reactivity. Results depend heavily on owner follow through, household consistency, genetics, health, and environment. Nothing on this site is a promise of a particular result.

6. Not Veterinary or Medical Advice

We are dog trainers, not veterinarians or veterinary behaviorists. Content on this site and guidance given during training is educational and is not veterinary, medical, or legal advice. Always consult a licensed veterinarian about your dog's health, medication, diet, or diagnosis.

7. Owner Responsibilities and Assumption of Risk

Dog training and handling involve inherent risks, including bites, scratches, falls, injury, illness, escape, and property damage. You voluntarily assume those risks for yourself, your family, your guests, and your dog. You are responsible for your dog's behavior at all times under applicable Texas and local law, including leash, licensing, and dangerous dog ordinances, and you agree to maintain control of your dog during and after training.

8. Limitation of Liability and Indemnity

To the maximum extent allowed by law, True North Canine and its owner, employees, and contractors are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, arising out of this site or our services. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the service giving rise to the claim. You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages, and costs arising from your dog's behavior or your breach of these Terms. Nothing here limits liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or anything that cannot be limited by law.

9. Photos, Video, and Media Release

Unless you tell us otherwise in writing, you grant us permission to photograph and record your dog during training and to use that content for documentation, education, and marketing without compensation. We do not publish your contact information. You may withdraw this permission for future content at any time by contacting us.

10. Website Content, Intellectual Property, and AI Generated Content

• All text, images, logos, video, and program materials on this site are owned by True North Canine or used with permission. You may not copy, republish, scrape, or use them commercially without our written consent.
• Some website copy and some illustrative imagery on this site were produced with the help of AI tools and reviewed by a human before publication. Illustrative images may not depict a specific client dog or a specific result.
• Reviews and testimonials reflect the experience of individual clients. They are published with permission, are not compensated, and are not a guarantee that you will get the same result.
• Any AI assistant or chat feature we offer is identified as artificial intelligence, may produce inaccurate information, and does not replace advice from Patrick or your veterinarian.
• You may not use this site's content to train an AI or machine learning model, or use automated tools to scrape it, without our written permission.
• If you believe content on this site infringes your copyright, send a notice with the details required by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act to our email below and we will investigate and remove infringing material where appropriate.

11. Acceptable Use

Do not use this site to submit false information, to harass, to introduce malware, to attempt unauthorized access, or to violate any law. We may suspend access or refuse service for conduct that endangers people, animals, or our staff.

12. Communications

By providing your phone number or email, you agree we may contact you about your inquiry and program by phone, text, and email. Consent to marketing texts is not required to buy any service. Reply STOP to opt out of texts. See our Privacy Policy for details.

13. Third Party Services

This site uses third party services for hosting, maps, embedded social content, analytics, and payments. We are not responsible for their availability, content, or practices.

14. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict of law rules. Before filing any claim, you agree to contact us and attempt to resolve the matter informally for at least 30 days. If that fails, disputes will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Collin County, Texas, and you and we consent to that venue. Each party is responsible for its own attorney fees unless a court orders otherwise.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms. The effective date above shows the latest version, and continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised Terms. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
